Celebrate God’s Greatness

Celebrate God’s Greatness is the Passion Translation’s caption for Psalm 111.

In Prayer early this week, I was drawn to this psalm and the pull continues. I find it reassuring.

It speaks of God’s wonders and mysteries in one sentence, followed by his splendor and beauty in the next!

Other adjectives eternal perfection; keeps every promise; power; marvels; trust-worthy; true; righteousness; forever-love; wisdom. . . just to list some of them.

Do we think of our Creator like that? Yes we may, yet keeping that perspective is often a challenge.

Today I invite us all , myself included, to keep our eyes on the prize, the prize of gazing on what is priority for everything that has breath. Let’s celebrate God’s greatness by moving through these God breathed Words.

Please read this as if you are breathing in the fresh air of the Kingdom of God, letting go of what takes us off track.

Accept these inspired phrases, as if we are eating a favorite food, savoring every morsel.

Do not push past any words the Holy Spirit is highlighting for you. Rest there breathing and savoring more deeply.

May we all experience a fresh infilling of the Holy Spirit as we let go, turning to our Creator to celebrate God’s greatness.

1 Shout Hallelujah to Yahweh!

May every one of his devoted lovers

hear my passionate praise to him,

even among the council of the holy ones.

2 For God’s mighty miracles astound me!

His wonders are so delightfully mysterious

that they leave all who seek them astonished.

3 Everything he does is full of splendor and beauty!

Each miracle demonstrates his eternal perfection.

4 His unforgettable works of surpassing wonder.

reveal his grace and tender mercy.

5 He satisfies all who love and trust him,

and he keeps every promise he makes.

6 He reveals mighty power and marvels to his people

by handing them nations as a gift.

7 All God accomplishes is flawless, faithful, fair,

and his every word proves trust-worthy and true.

8 They are steadfast, forever and ever,

 formed from truth and righteousness.

9 His forever-love paid a full ransom

 for his people

so that now we’re free to come

 before Yahweh

to worship his holy and awesome name!

10 Where can wisdom be found? It is

born in the fear of God.

Everyone who follows his ways

will never lack his living understanding.

And the adoration of God will abide throughout eternity!

About the author

Andrea Van Boven (Madden): I like to think I am a radical lover of Jesus, but I live in a house and pay bills and look like I fit in with respectable society, like most people. What goes on in my head and heart are hopefully the things that betray the look of "normal" that comes at first glance. I hope those things inside of me seep out to actions as well as words of hope and encouragement. I pray that these in turn will lead others to know the loving Creator who knows us so intimately that he has a number for every hair on every head.
