Acceleration and Rest

I often wake up slowly in conversation with the Lord. Last week, during one of these conversations I heard in my spirit, “acceleration and rest.” Events of all sorts are accelerating dramatically in nearly every direction around us, and the best way through them is to rest in God, allowing our relationship with Him to lead us.

Over the past eleven and a half years since I began writing weekly blogs, themes around  acceleration and rest, as well as shift and change, have been common. I have experimented with many types of writing in this space. It is always my desire to write in a way that communicates authentically the many ways we interact with our Creator.

I don’t know about you, but I feel like we are all experiencing changes at hyper speed, at least compared to what I grew up with. I find it is time I seek increased clarity for this new season.

In this next season Abba is inviting me to take some time off weekly “deadlines.” These deadlines have helped me in many ways, giving me definition to my weeks, honing several different kinds of skills, and helping me keep a running conversation with the LORD.

I might not post here for several weeks, possibly longer, yet I promise to post as Abba spontaneously prompts and encourages me. If you are not a subscriber yet, please be sure to sign up at andreavanboven.com to be sure you do not miss the next installments.

For at least the next few weeks I have a few other things requiring my focus. My fifth grandchild has made her healthy entrance. I will still be writing, but in different directions with some different projects I have been putting off. Parts of those could possibly end up here, only without the pressure of a deadline.

I never imagined myself as a writer. I did not begin to learn how to type until I was in graduate school and only became moderately proficient with this blog, then a book. Abba has freed me to be His daughter, who now does previously unimaginable things, always giving God the glory.

As I hit the pause button for a bit, please use the search engine on my site to explore what the first eleven and a half years produced. I pray the Holy Spirit will lead and inspire you as I asked the Spirit to pour through me.

Abundant blessings for 2025 and I’ll be back!

About the author

Andrea Van Boven (Madden): I like to think I am a radical lover of Jesus, but I live in a house and pay bills and look like I fit in with respectable society, like most people. What goes on in my head and heart are hopefully the things that betray the look of "normal" that comes at first glance. I hope those things inside of me seep out to actions as well as words of hope and encouragement. I pray that these in turn will lead others to know the loving Creator who knows us so intimately that he has a number for every hair on every head.

    1. Thank you Bette.
Interestingly I found that after over eleven years and over 500 posts that Abba gave me to post, I was beginning to circle back to previous themes. We can always learn more from the ancient themes, truly there is nothing ing new under the sun as Solomon tells us, and I am certain I have not plumbed the depths of those themes, but it is time for me to to minister to the humanity in each of us “differently” in this new season.
I appreciate your faithfulness and perseverance over many decades of walking with our Lord. You bless me by your example.
      Blessings, Andrea
