“Wait for it. . .Just Wait for it. . ..”

In prayer recently I heard in my spirit an encouraging, “Wait for it. . . Just wait for it. . ..”

I have lived to see some of my lifelong dreams come true. At the top of the list is having healthy, intelligent, kind children and they are a delight to me. Both are married to marvelous spouses and these couples are blessing me with grandchildren. These relationships along with my brother are the most important relationships to me on this earth.

Outside of family I have other dreams and callings. I have experienced many decades of rewarding vocational ministry across the world and still desire helping with the expansion of the Kingdom of God for as long as I am able.

That’s where the “wait for it. . .just wait for it. . ..” comes in.

Over the decades Abba has shifted me and redirected me several times into different rolls, job descriptions, and ways of growing the Kingdom of God. I sense I am in another one of those times and I don’t know yet where or how this shift is leading me.

In the past, I often sensed a change was coming between 12 to 18 months before I had the details.

As I reflect on this, I have been in that sort of waiting place for several months now. “Wait for it. . . just wait for it. . ..”

I have learned a lot about waiting over the years. I am better at being at peace with not knowing what is next than I used to be, but I still find myself striving to enter the rest in the middle of the uncertainty.

Being older now, I have built a reliable faith history in my walk with God. Trusting that, Romans 8:28-29a “And we know that God causes everything to work together[m] for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. 29 For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them. . .” is true, through repeatedly lived experiences, and it is not just a cliché, it is baked into me.

Our lives all have some mountain tops and its share of valleys. Remembering how tough experiences have turned out differently than initially anticipated helps me wait.

Abba has been talking to me about how we are chosen, John 15:16;

loved, Jeremiah 31:3

how He Knows His good plans for us Jeremiah 29:11-13

His presence and grace are sufficient for me, 2 Corinthians 12:9

Trusting in these and other characteristics of our Creator will prevent me from missing whatever is next. Isaiah 26:3 and 31:18-21.

So, whenever you find yourself in these in-between places in your life, reflect on His promises and,

“wait for it. . . just wait for it. . ..”

About the author

Andrea Van Boven (Madden): I like to think I am a radical lover of Jesus, but I live in a house and pay bills and look like I fit in with respectable society, like most people. What goes on in my head and heart are hopefully the things that betray the look of "normal" that comes at first glance. I hope those things inside of me seep out to actions as well as words of hope and encouragement. I pray that these in turn will lead others to know the loving Creator who knows us so intimately that he has a number for every hair on every head.

  1. Love it = just love it. = your writing sounds so familiar.
Thanks for sharing. Helps to make me “feel” normal
    with similar experiences.

  2. I choose a word to concentrate on every year. My chosen word for 2025 is Trust. As I read your beautiful writing I thought how much waiting on the Lord is like trusting in the Lord.
    Thank you, Andrea
