Are You on The Rock?

In prayer this week I heard clearly, “The rock of my salvation.” As I considered this more deeply, I went to the following verses, and others. Please read the verses with these questions in mind: Are you on The Rock? And what is the nature and reliability of The Rock?

Please allow the Word to touch you. Hint: Use the links to go deeper, and is needed come back when you have more time.

“The Lord lives, and blessed be my rock, and exalted be my God, the rock of my salvation,” 2 Samuel:47

and all of them drank the same spiritual water. For they drank from the spiritual rock that traveled with them, and that rock was Christ. 1 Corinthians 10:4

32 “For who is God, but the Lord?
    And who is a rock, except our God?
33 This God is my strong refuge
    and has made my[d] way blameless.[e]
34 He made my feet like the feet of a deer
    and set me secure on the heights. 2 Samuel 22: 32-34

   “my[a] God, my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield, and the horn of my salvation,
    my stronghold and my refuge,
    my savior; you save me from violence. 2 Samuel 22:1-3

For he will conceal me there* when troubles come;
    he will hide me in his sanctuary.
    He will place me out of reach on a high rock. Psalm 27:5  *In God’s temple. We are God’s temple1 Corinthians 3:16

24 “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rockMatthew 7:24

The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior;
    my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.
He is my shield, the power that saves me,
    and my place of safety. Psalm 18

Going forward I plan to focus here more often, and hopefully you will enjoy it too. In these days when so little seems solid, I know I need to remember that my foundation is solid and perfect.

Assuming you are a follower of Jesus, the basic answer to the question, “Are you on the Rock?” is yes.

Personally, spending time focusing on who God is, and the truth of my position is reassuring, and calming. It reminds me of what is true, and that I am on The Rock! It makes facing each day with assurance and resolve easier.

Join me on The Rock.

About the author

Andrea Van Boven (Madden): I like to think I am a radical lover of Jesus, but I live in a house and pay bills and look like I fit in with respectable society, like most people. What goes on in my head and heart are hopefully the things that betray the look of "normal" that comes at first glance. I hope those things inside of me seep out to actions as well as words of hope and encouragement. I pray that these in turn will lead others to know the loving Creator who knows us so intimately that he has a number for every hair on every head.
