Prayer Consultant On The Move

Map of Armenia from Historyplace.com

I call myself a Prayer Consultant. As a result of many years of experiences with different kinds of prayer I model, teach and advise on prayer in many different settings.

Any kind of consultant finds themselves traveling from time to time. This trip is taking me to Armenia to help with Leadership Development and Prayer in Yerevan, the capital city. On the map the red bit to the right is all that is left of a formerly very large nation as shown by the red outline of Historic Armenia.

A small team is going to encourage and help strengthen a ministry there. Part of the time we will be focused on coaching a group we taught last fall. I invite you to pray for me as I cross oceans and continents. Let me set the scene a bit to help you understand how to pray.

As you might see from the map Armenia has a long and rich history. Once a geographically vast country it is now 1/10th the size it once was. Apostles Bartholomew and Thaddeus both visited the country in the first century. In 301AD the King declared it a Christian nation, it became the first country in the world to do so.

They have a very unique language with their own alphabet that has letters and numbers working from the same symbols. When we are translated from English into Armenian it takes three words for every English word. Please pray for the translators and for us to speak as concisely as possible. Some speak English, nearly all the adults we work with were educated in Russian.

This is my first initial in Armenian writing!

Over the centuries many other peoples, nations and religions have tried to over run the country. Yes, Armenia has lost territory, but the people are strong and love their land. Please pray they will continue to grow in forgiveness for the atrocities committed against them and for a fresh wind of the Holy Spirit to refresh the people.

As we go, we all know the Armenian people hold the keys of the Gospel to the heart of their country. As consultants, please pray we can see ways we are able to honor and encourage on many levels. May the ministry experiences and tools we bring and share be translated into their culture for eternal kingdom fruit to remain.

Thank you in advance for your prayers.

About the author

Andrea Van Boven (Madden): I like to think I am a radical lover of Jesus, but I live in a house and pay bills and look like I fit in with respectable society, like most people. What goes on in my head and heart are hopefully the things that betray the look of "normal" that comes at first glance. I hope those things inside of me seep out to actions as well as words of hope and encouragement. I pray that these in turn will lead others to know the loving Creator who knows us so intimately that he has a number for every hair on every head.
