Honor Our Fallen For Freedom

When I was in Boston this week, these thousands of flags were being staked in to the grass on the Common.

Thousands of flags on the Boston Common, each representing the life of a Massachusetts soldier lost fighting for and defending our freedom since the revolutionary war.

Please take some time this weekend to honor those who have served to gain and maintain or freedoms of life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Join me in praying for those in active service who defend our constitution and protect us. Feel free to include “first responders.” Those are the ones who run into the flames and to the trouble so we can run away to safety.

Freedom always comes at a cost.

May we always be grateful!

About the author

Andrea Van Boven (Madden): I like to think I am a radical lover of Jesus, but I live in a house and pay bills and look like I fit in with respectable society, like most people. What goes on in my head and heart are hopefully the things that betray the look of "normal" that comes at first glance. I hope those things inside of me seep out to actions as well as words of hope and encouragement. I pray that these in turn will lead others to know the loving Creator who knows us so intimately that he has a number for every hair on every head.

  1. I agree. Sometimes we are so busy that we not intentionally forget but it gets pushed to the back of our minds. So I pray a gratitude to all the men and women who serve past present and future. And to their families and friends who support them and love them.
