Life is interesting when we walk with our Creator. It is fascinating to see how our ways really are not like the ways of our Creator. (Isaiah 55:8-9)
I have had a very full few weeks, doing my best to humbly follow the Holy Spirit. I have had great times with family and friends in the process. Also, some of these times are Isaiah 30:18-21 adventures, where I was listening carefully.
One day last week I was standing in front of an elevator, after missing a meeting due to traffic in a big city, and location issues for the meeting. Wondering what to do next, an unexpected friend popped out of the elevator! When he told me where he was headed, I knew why I was there.
Sometimes life feels like a treasure hunt. We have most of a map, like the 10 Commandments and the rest of the Bible. But the specifics of our days are less prescriptive and more adapted to the 21st century than Bible times.
That’s when the relationship with our Creator, Abba, Son, and Holy Spirit makes the difference. The days, weeks and years of reading and doing the Word, John 1:1-5, add up to friendship and trust.
Life is about learning to listen to the how God speaks to us. We have lifetimes of letting go, so we can trust that God is who and what He says He is. Isaiah 45.
Our Creator is not the imperfect people who have influenced us: parents, teachers, authors and media personalities.
Life is choosing. Choosing to listen to the One who made us, who chose us before the beginning of time. Psalm 139 We exist to live in relationship. We are human beings. Everything good flows from this relationship.
John 15:”16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. 17 These things I command you, so that you will love one another.” Trees and plants do not force their fruit to maturity. As we rest in relationship, we grow and become fruitful.
Some choices in life have us declaring like Paul. “12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. 13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” Philippians 4
