Kingdom Authority

Kingdom Authority is not what many think of when they hear the word Authority.

It is often confused with a kind of power that hangs over and looks down on others. “Bosses have authority to make you to do whatever they need or want. It does not have to be in your job description.” [NOT] That kind of authority makes people afraid of the one using it.

The kind of authority I am talking about is “Kingdom Authority.” It is both given freely, and earned. Our Creator offers it to us as we grow in our faith and relationship with Jesus. As we deepen our relationship by faithfully following in His proverbial footsteps, that is willing obedience, we earn upgrades.

The other morning I had a series of dreams. I don’t remember much about them, but there is one line I said to my companion in the dream at least three times. It came at the end of each of the portions of the dream. Each time it was like a “mic-drop” line that ended the section.

“You have a measure of authority and you get to decide how you are going to use it.”

While I prayed about it as I was waking up, the following verses came to mind:

Then Jesus came close to them and said, “All the authority of the universe has been given to me. [19] Now go in my authority and make disciples of all nationsbaptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. [20] And teach them to faithfully follow all that I have commanded you. And never forget that I am with you every day, even to the completion of this age.” Matthew 28:18-20 TPT (italics mine.)

As we grow in our relationships with Jesus, we also grow in our Kingdom Authority. We can continue to grow by willingly responding to His Greatest commandment to love God and love each other. This is how we know it is Kingdom Authority and not the other kind.

We must also respond to His Great Commission to go and make disciples.

37 He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few.38 So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.” Matthew 9

It is time.

It is time to pray for workers to respond.

We are the answer to our prayers.

When we go in His Kingdom Authority, we are never alone.

This Kingdom Authority leads us by His love through the Holy Spirit.

So, do not be afraid.

Just share your personal story of meeting and walking with Jesus.

What a marvel it is to allow His authority to flow through us.

It is fun!

The more we cooperate, the more we receive to do it again.

It is time.

About the author

Andrea Van Boven (Madden): I like to think I am a radical lover of Jesus, but I live in a house and pay bills and look like I fit in with respectable society, like most people. What goes on in my head and heart are hopefully the things that betray the look of "normal" that comes at first glance. I hope those things inside of me seep out to actions as well as words of hope and encouragement. I pray that these in turn will lead others to know the loving Creator who knows us so intimately that he has a number for every hair on every head.
