Sometimes, taking a step back to refocus makes a difference It is so easy to lose sight of what makes, and keeps us stable. So, today I am sharing an exercise I use to help me, and hopefully you too, can refocus and realign. Engage with this process “as needed.” Use any scripture you find appropriate.
One reason I chose Psalm 146 is because it easily reminds me of who our Creator is. He is the focus in all but two verses. Those other two verses explain why people can’t be our lasting solution.
*Try reading it all the way through, out loud, once. (optional)
*Then go back to the top. This time read out loud, one or two verses at a time. Pause and pray about what you just read.
*Think about what the words mean. What do you learn about Our Creator? About yourself?
*Have an honest conversation with our Abba. Let Him love you. That makes praising Him flow.
* Use a journal to process your thoughts. (optional)
**If anything in the Psalm brings up negative emotions, pause. Talk with Abba about it while you are there. Do you need forgiveness? Is it time for you to forgive someone else? The thoughts likely came up to give you an occasion to sort it out with God.
*Let the Word, and Holy Spirit refocus and realign you with the Truth. (His name is Jesus)
Hopefully, you can make time to complete the whole Psalm with this process in one sitting. This Psalm flows well for that.
1 Praise the Lord!
Let all that I am praise the Lord.
2 I will praise the Lord as long as I live.
I will sing praises to my God with my dying breath.
3 Don’t put your confidence in powerful people;
there is no help for you there.
4 When they breathe their last, they return to the earth,
and all their plans die with them.
5 But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper,
whose hope is in the Lord their God.
6 He made heaven and earth,
the sea, and everything in them.
He keeps every promise forever.
7 He gives justice to the oppressed
and food to the hungry.
The Lord frees the prisoners.
8 The Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
The Lord lifts up those who are weighed down.
The Lord loves the godly.
9 The Lord protects the foreigners among us.
He cares for the orphans and widows,
but he frustrates the plans of the wicked.
10 The Lord will reign forever.
He will be your God, O Jerusalem, throughout the generations.
Praise the Lord!
Rest and receive.
Let me know how it goes.
I appreciate your guidance of prayer practices
It’s wonderful to take this process slowly spending time
I am really glad you find it helpful. I find it transformative when I take the few moments to sit with the Word and listen to the Holy Spirit.
Thank you for letting me know.
Blessings to you Pam!
