A Book is Born

A book is born after a gestation period of twenty four years. Long time readers of this blog have heard of this project on and off since I began blogging. I had left the project for sixteen of those twenty four years to finish raising children and to deal with life’s ups and downs. God called me back to A Little Drop of Love: Henrietta Mears, How She Helped Change a Generation and You Can Too, around the same time as Multifacetedblog.net began.

Since that time I have walked through a lot more of life. I have grown and so did A Little Drop of Love. I have learned much about life over this past quarter of a century. Henrietta Mears said, “Everyone is dying for a drop of love.” I have found that to be true.

Judy Douglass; speaker; encourager; Director, Women’s Resource at Cru; author of When You Love a Prodigal: 90 Days of Grace for the Wilderness, has this to say about Henrietta Mears:

“If you are a follower of Jesus, your life has probably been influenced by Henrietta Mears. If you have attended Sunday school, or a Christian camp, or participated in a campus ministry, listened to Billy Graham, if you have been discipled by a Spirit-filled believer, if you have gone on a mission trip, or read a Christian book, her life has likely touched yours. Miss Mears understood she was discipling the next generation of leaders for God’s kingdom. Andrea Van Boven will introduce you to this capable, fun-loving, people-loving, visionary, passionate woman who is still helping to spread the good news of God’s love to the world, generations later.”

This biography is not only about a remarkable woman. It also offers opportunities for you to walk further into the fulness of God’s call and destiny for your life. Jonathan Friz, Founder, 10 Days of Prayer explains it like this:

“God has called most of us to serve in a secondary roles, in hidden places, and yet biographies and histories tend to focus on the primary, public players. Andrea Van Boven’s spiritual biography of Henrietta Mears shows us how we ourselves can be a force for kingdom influence from behind the scenes. Hopefully, it can help us re-evaluate the relative importance in God’s sight of this type of ministry of hidden influence for good. What a blessing to have this example of a true mother in the faith.”

When a book is born, one might be tempted to think the work is finished. It is not. I believe God has planned for this book to come out now. I see this as a stepping off point. To what? Well, please join me in praying that I will follow Abba’s leading. I see through a mirror dimly today, but I know God has plans for it and for me. The fact this book is born, is proof to me, and others, that it is only a beginning.

I hope and pray you will get a copy and read it. Not for my profit, but for yours. Anyone who delves into the life of Henrietta Mears will be encouraged. And when you take advantage of the application section, I know the Holy Spirit will minister to you with God’s little drop of love, just for you.

It will be on Amazon and another outlets in two to four weeks. Until then, Wipf and Stock publisher has it available for purchase from their site.

About the author

Andrea Van Boven (Madden): I like to think I am a radical lover of Jesus, but I live in a house and pay bills and look like I fit in with respectable society, like most people. What goes on in my head and heart are hopefully the things that betray the look of "normal" that comes at first glance. I hope those things inside of me seep out to actions as well as words of hope and encouragement. I pray that these in turn will lead others to know the loving Creator who knows us so intimately that he has a number for every hair on every head.
