Fully Known and Eternal

What is it like to be fully known and eternal?

That may be a scary thought, because when we are honest, we all know we’re not all we hope to be.

Something inside of us, let’s call it out our conscience, signals that there is more than we see.

Because we are made in the image of God, we hunger for the more, the beyond, the eternal.

In addition, without God’s help, we cannot fully understand ourselves. This makes it difficult to believe it is possible to be fully known and eternal.

Yet we are not hopeless!

I love that the Word of God is active.

“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

When we allow the Word of God to inform our thoughts and hearts, I promise, there is good news.

Reality is found in the beyond, in eternity.

“For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known1 Corinthians 13:12

This promise that we are fully known right now, is our certain hope that lasts for eternity.

“So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.” They are eternal 2 Corinthians 4:18

Abba, the truth is You have always known us because You thought of us before time and created us in time. I pray you help us understand that we are your fully known and eternal, precious children. Amen

About the author

Andrea Van Boven (Madden): I like to think I am a radical lover of Jesus, but I live in a house and pay bills and look like I fit in with respectable society, like most people. What goes on in my head and heart are hopefully the things that betray the look of "normal" that comes at first glance. I hope those things inside of me seep out to actions as well as words of hope and encouragement. I pray that these in turn will lead others to know the loving Creator who knows us so intimately that he has a number for every hair on every head.
