Press On To Reach The End Of The Race

Much of life is about perseverance, pressing on to the end. The end of what?

For me it has been about living life ”well.” I know there is a lot of subjectivity possible here, but my definition is based in Isaiah 40. I exist because the sovereign Creator of all things formed me, from before time, with plans specifically for me. These plans fit within the general plans our Creator’s desires for all of us.

A lot of pressing on to the end of the race, begins with seeking out how we are all part of something bigger. For me, much of this adventure we call life, is discovering and walking out the general, then my specific contexts.

This requires an individual relationship with the Lord of All.

The only way we can truly succeed is to connect with our Creator. Jesus Christ of Nazareth said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. John 14:6-7 Elsewhere Jesus said, “I and the Father are one.”

The most reliable way to get to know the God of Psalm 139 these days is through the Bible. Gathering and growing alongside others who know our Creator is also very important. These are foundational if we desire to persevere through challenging times.

What I really want to say today is, do not let up

Marathons are won by running all the way through the finish line.

Paul desired to share in Christ’s sufferings to be eternally in relationship with our Lord. Philippians 3:9-11.

“ I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.” Philippians 3:14

Do not lighten up after a victory. Champions win because play every last minute of their competition.

Do not give into weariness, but lean even more into our Designer. Jeremiah 29:11-14

I encourage rest to stay fit and ready!

“. . . the Holy One of Israel, says: “Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength. . . .” Isaiah 30:15

We live in challenging times, and things are shifting.

All of God’s promises to us are yes!

Do not let up.

Press into our Lord.

Press on to reach the end of the race.

About the author

Andrea Van Boven (Madden): I like to think I am a radical lover of Jesus, but I live in a house and pay bills and look like I fit in with respectable society, like most people. What goes on in my head and heart are hopefully the things that betray the look of "normal" that comes at first glance. I hope those things inside of me seep out to actions as well as words of hope and encouragement. I pray that these in turn will lead others to know the loving Creator who knows us so intimately that he has a number for every hair on every head.
