The Presence of Our Creator

The presence of our Creator is something many people seek. It is instinctive to all of us.

I walked out my back door this week and I was struck by the blazing sky at sunrise. I quickly took this photo of this pillar of fiery Cloud. It instantly reminded me of the following passage in Exodus 13.

“21 The Lord went ahead of them. He guided them during the day with a pillar of cloud, and he provided light at night with a pillar of fire. This allowed them to travel by day or by night. 22 And the Lord did not remove the pillar of cloud or pillar of fire from its place in front of the people.”

Here, before me, was a fresh, dazzling, expression of the presence of our living God.  It is as if it is the moment of transition from fire to cloud. Another reminder to me of the Lord’s continual care of and presence with His children

This pillar expression of the presence of our Creator is rare in our times. And it lasted less than 15 minutes before it blew away. It did, however remind me of some of the other ways God lets us know that we are not alone.

“I am with you always,” Jesus said to His disciples after His resurrection. His physical body ascended to Heaven, but the Holy Spirit seals us in Christ and guides believers who listen. “For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”

Nowhere is there a promise that life will be easy. The Word, however, is full of Abba’s promises to be with us, no matter what.

We always have the choice to trust the promises from the Word. In challenging times, it can take perseverance to live in them, but trust me, it is worth learning. Personally, I am thankful for the bold reminder of the presence of our Creator through the fiery cloud! It was so bold it startled me. Abba got my attention so I could ground my day on the constant presence of our Creator.

I pray we all have eyes to see and ears to hear so we may notice the fulfillment of Creator’s many promises.

Andrea Van Boven (Madden): I like to think I am a radical lover of Jesus, but I live in a house and pay bills and look like I fit in with respectable society, like most people. What goes on in my head and heart are hopefully the things that betray the look of "normal" that comes at first glance. I hope those things inside of me seep out to actions as well as words of hope and encouragement. I pray that these in turn will lead others to know the loving Creator who knows us so intimately that he has a number for every hair on every head.
