Psalm 119 is a unique Chapter in the Bible. It is the longest chapter in the Word, with 176 verses. It is also an acrostic of the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet.
Each of the 22 couplets of eight verses, begins with the same letter of the Hebrew alphabet it represents.
All but three, or five, of the 176 verses, depending on the translation you chose, refer to importance of the word of God. The writer uses many synonyms such as: promises, laws, statutes, rules, commandments, etc.
I have been reading through it slowly for a couple weeks now and find myself stopping to breathe in the character, and the promises, of our living Creator. This week verse 124 stopped me and keeps calling me back.
“Let me feel your tender love, for I am yours. Give me more understanding of your wonderful ways.” Psalm 119:124 TPT
I guess I crave a reminder that I am in an eternal relationship with the Creator of all things. This Creator is personal, loving, knows me perfectly, and willingly leads me in His wonderful ways.
As I come back to this verse each day, I feel my shoulders drop from my ears, to a place of rest.
I invite you to read slowly though this work of art. Let the Holy Spirit reinforce the richness and wisdom of the Word. For fun, you might want to look for the three to five verses that do not use a synonym for the Word of God. Mostly, however, enjoy all of it.
I would love to hear which verses grab your attention, and why.
Most of all, be blessed by reading Creator’s Word.
It’s nice for you that you’re gifted with the understanding of English language and when reading you probably don’t have comprehension problems. I don’t always know which makes it difficult for me to understand fully
Pam, Thank you for letting know. Do you mean tat this blog, is difficult to understand? Its it because of the many different lord used that can mean, or point to, the Word of God?
How can I help? Honestly!
Blessings, Andrea
