“Operate from the throne room” is an odd phrase, especially if one is not familiar with our position and authority in Christ. Most of us followers of Jesus know we are children of of God. We know, at least in our heads, that we are loved and that we can call on the name of Jesus for help. But is this relationship only Father-child? Or worse yet, could it be a common lie of master-servant/slave?
We are not subservient like a master-slave arrangement. God created humankind for relationship, an intimate bride-groom relationship. We are in training to reign as the Bride of Christ for all eternity, a bride with army boots as some have said. Those who believe in Jesus are already part of the Bride of Christ, but we are still learning what that means. John, one of the original twelve disciples, writes about the throne room in Revelation 4.
“Then as I looked, I saw a door standing open in heaven, and the same voice I had heard before spoke to me like a trumpet blast. The voice said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must happen after this.” 2 And instantly I was in the Spirit, and I saw a throne in heaven and someone sitting on it. 3 The one sitting on the throne was as brilliant as gemstones—like jasper and carnelian. And the glow of an emerald circled his throne like a rainbow.” Revelation 4:1-3
The more we allow the Holy Spirit to fill us, the easier it is to hear this invitation to each of us. “Come up here. . .” It is an important part of our training to understand our place and the authority we actually have, even now.
Paul tells us more: “19 I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power 20 that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms. 21 Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this world but also in the world to come.” Ephesians 1:19-21
Yes, that power and honor is for you and for me, now. There is no: “Yeah, but you don’t know me. . .” about it. It is how God sees each of us, even when we may not.
Paul continues: “5 that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) 6 For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. 7 So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus. Ephesians 2:5-7 (Emphasis mine) Creator made us to operate from the throne room.
So much changes when we begin to grasp that our Creator is inviting us to operate from the throne room. We are seated with Him. I imagine that I am in the process of making, or enacting, a decision. As I hesitate, all I have to do is lean over and ask for advice. The same power that raised Jesus from the grave is in me, and in you! So, why are we, living as if we have no wisdom or no power?
Today Abba invites you to please “chew” on these verses. Look at them in context. Ask and allow Holy Spirit to lead you into all truth.
The next question I hope you ask is: How do I operate from the throne room? That answer, I believe, has similarities for all. We all have access to the same Person, wisdom, power and authority because we are His bride. Yet we are all different, with different spheres of influence. Abba is much more interested in us knowing how to operate from the throne room than either you or I are.
