“Find Me In The Morning”

“Find me in the morning” is something I say to a friend fairly often. Recently she had a dream during that light sleep one has before really waking up. She heard clearly. “Find me in the morning” but it was not me saying it. It was clearly God inviting her to find him in the morning.

It seemed clear that God is actively waiting for her to come meet with her, not only one morning, but every morning. I don’t think we realize how much the One who made us actually likes being with us. Yes, the Holy Spirit lives in us who have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior. But do we really understand how much knowing God is actually a genuine relationship? It is potentially more intimate than human relationships because God thought about is and envisioned every day of our lives before we were created! Psalm 139:16. God is in relationship with us, but how much do we invest in our relationship with Him? Find me….

I have no intention of setting rules or dictating anything. But I do, however, hope we all can take a few moments to think about how we build relationships. I purposely used the phrase build relationships. They do not just happen. We need to invest time and energy in any relationship for it to grow. Find me…anytime, anywhere, anyway that works for you.

That time and energy can be different for each individual because no two people are identical, even identical twins. Being aware of the presence of God with me as I walk in the woods, or on the beach with Nellie Belle and my camera is one way I build my relationship. Finding some time every day, or nearly, reading the Bible, the word of God helps me listen to Creator’s perspective instead of my own or the other loud ones currently shouting for our attention. Find me….

Especially in these days of Pandemic, I find my God saying “Don’t be afraid. I am here, I am always here, I have a plan. Not only that, I have a good plan.” In the ESV Bible “Fear not” is found 158 times. Isaiah 41:10 is a favorite of mine. Jeremiah 29:11-13 is another great passage.

For those of us who are seeking God, let’s accept the “Find me in the morning” invitation. I have offered a few seeds of hope and encouragement here, but there are specific things God wants to say to each of us. There are many universal promises, and there are many things God wants to say to each of us specifically. If we don’t show up, His word is most often drowned out. That is when fear or any distraction has the opportunity to side track us.

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Hebrews 11:6 Come for the relationship and have faith that you will receive the rewards.

“Find me in the morning.” What can that look like for you?

About the author

Andrea Van Boven (Madden): I like to think I am a radical lover of Jesus, but I live in a house and pay bills and look like I fit in with respectable society, like most people. What goes on in my head and heart are hopefully the things that betray the look of "normal" that comes at first glance. I hope those things inside of me seep out to actions as well as words of hope and encouragement. I pray that these in turn will lead others to know the loving Creator who knows us so intimately that he has a number for every hair on every head.

  1. Firm quiet short directive voice is how God speaks
It’s a love sound without hesitation and you know you know it’s Gods whisper to each of us

    1. I love your thoughts. I am sure that is how He speaks to you. He does to me like that sometimes.I have found over the years that He speaks to each of us in the ways we listen and can hear. I love that the word jumps off the page, that there is a still small voice, a song, an image…. Thanks again! I love your input.
      In HIS embrace,
      Andrea
