Years ago I Asked Abba to put a worship song on my mind when I first wake up in the morning. That prayer was answered the next morning, and continues today. Some mornings the song of the day is loud and clear. Other days I need to ‘look’ for it, but it is always close by.
Some mornings the song becomes the theme for my day, or repeats a few over a few mornings. Worship lifts the eyes of my heart to our Creator and helps me to not become overwhelmed by what is going on in the world near and far.
Recently I helped lead an in-depth prayer appointment as part of my churches ministry. It was a more complicated set of circumstances than usual that needed extra discernment. The team needed some extra guidance before we met again. The morning of the appointment I woke up to the chorus, loud and clear in my head, of a song by Elevation Worship.
O come to the altar
The Father’s arms are open wide
Forgiveness was bought with
The precious blood of Jesus Christ
These lyrics gave me some needed direction for that appointment. All our appointments revolve around forgiveness at some level, but this one, Abba was letting me know to include communion. When I mentioned the song during the prayer time, the individual became very excited because that song is special on several levels in their life. Who knew? Abba knew!
Then there are rare mornings when the tune I wake up to is definitely not a worship song. Those days I ask Abba who I need to pray for. Sometimes I have an instant direction for an individual, other days it may be a set of circumstances. Lyrics like, “The first cut is the deepest,” can narrow the pool quickly to people I know who need prayer and help for depression.
I do ask for a song every night before I sleep. I guess I initially asked for then to come every day. As my life’s circumstances have ebbed and flowed over the decades I have gone through dry times and I have renewed that request. Abba never fails to help me start the day with him even before I open my eyes…when I ask, and sometimes when I just need it.
How about you? Are you interested? all you need to do is ask Abba, then let the surprises begin. Please let me know how it goes.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it.= Music/songs definitely are a blessing during worship and ministry.
Dear Bette, Sorry for the late reply! You are in my thoughts and prayers more than you know. May Abba bless you with His songs to minister to you! With Love, Andrea
