It’s been a different week for me. I’m feeling a little out of sync or off-balance. Not physically, but because my plans kept shifting all week. Very little went as usual or as originally planned. I imagine I am not alone, if not this week, we all have out of sync days, weeks and seasons from time to time.
When I get this way I try to get back to basics. Sometimes it’s really hard to regain balance, but several things help me find my way back.
- I like to start my day with a strong cup of tea.
- Nellie Belle my dog sits with me as I drink tea, journal and read the Bible.
- Today I chose to sing a bit. Singing praise seems to help me connect with God better than almost anything else.
Those all helped for a while, but of course the day continued the out of sync trend on the week. It all got worse before it got better.
In an attempt to get back in sync I took Nellie Belle for a walk on a small local beach. As She frolicked, I talked with God, soaked in the sun and took deep breaths sea air. My thoughts began to come back into line, in sync with the Lord.
I suspect I am not alone in being tempted to get frustrated, even giving in to frustration at times. The good new is Jesus is here with us and God is not surprised. As a matter of fact, He experienced every form of emotion we have but over came them all so we can too. I find the grace and power of God wonderfully comforting. I guess that’s why Jesus called the Holy Spirit our Comforter!
What do you do when you find yourself off-balance or out of sync?
